For this fiscal year, Iwate Prefecture has selected Morioka #3 High School and well as Morioka Technical High School as two new schools in its ILC Promotion Model Schools project. They will learn about the ILC as well as train their students with the skills to be involved at the ILC in the future.
Morioka #3 will have distance classes with university professors as well as university visits. Morioka Technical will research about the ILC and then present their findings to middle schools.
The prefecture has designated model schools since 2017, and there are currently 10 schools, including Morioka #1, Hanamaki Agricultural, Mizusawa, Ichinoseki #1, Mizusawa Technical, Miyako Commercial, Ofunato East, and Fukuoka. Each new school receives an upper limit for 500,000 yen, and continuing schools receive 750,000 to 1,000,000 yen per year in support funds.
Takahashi Tsuyoshi, deputy director of the ILC Promotion Bureau of Iwate Prefecture, said, “The ILC is involved with many different fields. Through these activities, I hope that there will be more people with an interest in the ILC.”
