The Oshu City Government has set up a PR corner within JR Mizusawa-Esashi Station in order to share information on the ILC with shinkansen train riders. They starting showing a 5 minute video in an area of the Southern Iwate Exchange Plaza so that people going through the “entrance” to Oshu City can learn more about their efforts to realize the project.
As part of the city’s efforts to bring about the ILC, they have been thinking about displaying ILC materials at Mizusawa-Esashi station, which the shinkansen station nearest the candidate site in the Kitakami mountains. Currently, they have a corner set up to publicize the National Sports Festival that is being held in Iwate in October, so they have started showing an ILC film for people visiting Oshu for the event or other tourism. The film is focused on Oshu’s initiatives for the ILC and the National Sports Festival.
They set up a 100 inch (2.2 meters x 1.2 meters) projector within the plaza for the film. The video shows the 8 events taking place in Oshu for the National Sports Festival, the attractions of the city, and the ILC project. The video’s creation and the display set-up was done in complete cooperation with Marumo Communications, a company in the Esashi ward of Oshu (CEO: Hiroki Kikuchi).
Oshu City is responsible for managing the plaza, so they intend to expand their ILC display, and within this fiscal year, plan to improve its contents. Oshu’s ILC Promotion Office stated, “We created this to share information on the National Sports Festival and Oshu City. We hope to introduce the ILC to a broader audience.”
The film is show every ten minutes within the plaza, every day from 8 am to 6 pm.
