On October 19th, the Iwate Accelerator-Related Industry Research Society held its second ILC technology seminar in Kitakami City to prepare for the ILC being built in the Kitakami mountains. Participants deepened their understanding of the necessary technology for the ILC through talks given by researchers from KEK in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture.
About 100 people including members of the research society participated. Associated Professor Toshihiro Matsumoto of KEK gave a lecture entitled “Digital/Software Technology Necessary for Precision Control of Superconducting Acceleration Cavity Electromagnetic Fields. ”
Professor Matsumoto explained that the acceleration fields of superconducting cavities are greatly affected by small vibrations. He explained the importance of feedback control to reduce the margin of signal I/O error. The professor introduced the digital and software technologies for the high frequency control which is necessary for a stable beam supply, stressing that “we want to realize a very precise beam acceleration.”
